Gender Diversity & Inclusion

Workshops and private consulting to support diversity, equity and inclusion within your organization and community.

Workshop are customized to the needs of your organization (usually 2-3 hrs). They can be generally focussed on DEI with gender variance included, or primarily on transgender realities and inclusion. They can be conversation and information based, or include movement.

For workshops that are entirely somatic please see dance offerings.

Topics for workshops often Include:

  • definitions of relevant words, so we speak the same language

  • a brief overview of colonialism and why DEI initiatives are important 

  • women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, disability and intersectionality

  • best practices with pronouns

  • gender theory, differences between gender and sex, science & sociology

  • how to create safer spaces for diversity within your organization

  • children, youth and gender diversity education

  • gender transitions within your organization or community and what that means

  • what transphobia looks like in real life

  • cisgender privilege, what is it?

  • gender variance throughout history

  • An open space to ask questions of a trans educator and engage in meaningful conversations

$50-$250/hr depending on organizational capacity

Transgender, queer and family help

Connie is ideally situated for this work as a queer, trans woman who has lived with disability. She has spent over 20 years working in education, is skilled at facilitating respectful conversations, has a masters degree in conflict analysis, has taken post-grad coursework in anti-racism and has lived and worked in Indigenous and international communities.
